Country views, sandy beaches and coastal walks – if you like the sound of all that for your next Welsh adventure, head to The Rounds, a peaceful family-run site on a working farm a 20-minute drive from Tenby, in rural Pembrokeshire.Set up your tent on the expansive field (and try not to get too distracted by the spectacular views of Caldey Island) while the kids chase each other around, walk the dog or while away the time in the Scandi-inspired indoor seating area. Then, locate all the key spots on site: the modern, well-maintained shower rooms. There’s also a firepit with benches and an indoor seating area scattered with potted plants and with a window framing a stunning sea view. After that, it’s all about exploring this fabulous corner of Wales. Those who favour wind-swept coastal walks have an embarrassment of riches, with almost 200 miles of paths in Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. On your walk, you can stop at beaches like Amroth, Wisemans Bridge or Saundersfoot, overlooked by a lighthouse. For a different landscape, try the National Trust's Colby Woodland Garden (five minutes' drive) or Canaston Wood (15 minutes), which has leafy trails including the ancient Knights’ Way pilgrim’s route.Grab what you need for the barbecue from the local farm shop (a few minutes' drive away) or, better still, let someone else take care of the cooking: the nearest pub serving food is in the village of Amroth, a short drive away.

Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked: Lovely hosts and fantastic shower/toilet facilities - Beautifully furnished and hot shower! Parking area close to camping, and grass area was smooth / pebble free. Had the privilege of being the first ever guest and was a last minute booking in a solo camp so didn’t use the beautiful fire pit / picnic / communal areas - but can see how they’d be a great feature on a group trip!! Beautiful morning birdsong as an added bonus. Convenient for Pendine sands (15min drive). Looks to be a beautiful site.
Disliked: Not so much dislike, just little comments - make sure you take the google map pin from pitch up as the entrance isn’t super obvious, and I was arriving in daylight. Value wasn’t 5* as I was solo camping but would be great value for larger group booking at the same price - cost per pitch (this is common though so not a fault here). No genuine dislikes from me :-)

Local attractions
A former coalfield, National Trust - Colby Woodland Garden (five minutes’ drive) is scattered with industrial remains that have now been taken over by nature. Carpets of colourful wildflowers attract butterflies, and you might also spot frogs, wagtails and (if luck is on your side) the occasional otter.Farmyard animals to pet and make a fuss of at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (10 minutes) include lambs, pygmy goats and rabbits; if the kids would rather come face to face with more exotic beasties, the zoo houses lions, giraffes and lemurs. There’s also a playground with thrill rides and a giant wheel.Climb up Castle Hill in Tenby to check out the remains of an ancient fortress and to see the RNLI Lifeboat Station, with its long launch ramp. After a day at one of Tenby’s two beaches, head into the old town to visit the National Trust - Tudor Merchant’s House, which dates from the 15th century.
